Commerce Stream

Hands-on experience with the latest programming languages and technology.

In our college we make them train in , MEC (Maths, Economics, Commerce) and CEC
(Civics, Economics, Commerce) streams are two-year intermediate programs that build a
foundation for careers in commerce, economics, law, management, and finance. MEC
emphasizes mathematics and analytical skills, while CEC focuses on civics, governance, and
social sciences.
MEC Curriculum (Maths, Economics, Commerce)
Core Subjects:
o Mathematics – Algebra, calculus, statistics, probability, and quantitative
techniques.
o Economics – Microeconomics, macroeconomics, demand-supply analysis,
national income, and development economics.
o Commerce – Business studies, accountancy, principles of management, and
financial systems.
Skills Developed:
o Analytical reasoning
o Quantitative aptitude
o Problem-solving in finance and economics
 Career Pathways:
o Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com)
o Bachelor of Economics

Our History

Pragati Mahavidyalaya  began as a junior college with 43 students in 1970 and later established a degree college in 1973, managed by Shri Gujarati Pragati Samaj. Key developments include the introduction of commerce courses in 1973 and science courses in 1981–82, and moved to its current premises in 1974. The college has since grown significantly, offering a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The college is managed by the Sri Gujarati Pragati Samaj, which was founded in 1943.

1930 was the year when Gujarati free school was started by our forefathers with a view to impart Education. As name suggest there was no fees charged. Other social activities were carried out under Navyuvak Mandal,Stree Mandal etc.

On November 13th, 1943 Shree Gujarati Pragati Samaj of today was born with the amalgamation of Shree Gujarati free school, Shree Gujarati Navyuvak Mandal, Stree Mandal and various other activities. It was a great achievement considering the fact that under British government in those days it was very difficult to get permission to start a school.
 
 
Today Shree Gujarati Pragati Samaj runs a string of Educational Institutes from Kinder Garden to Post Graduate College. Gujarati Pragati Samaj imparts education to about 5500 students without discriminating any cast and creed in Hindi, English and Telugu Medium up to P.G level. The samaj also runs an exclusive English Medium Primary School and we are also teaching “Gujarati” to all the students up to 5th standard even to non gujarati. In the year 1969 the Samaj decided to take the responsibility of imparting higher education and serving the Student Community of the twin cities. The Samaj started the Junior College in 1969, from the very inception of the new education policy of the Government. At present the Samaj is running Commerce courses, Science courses, and Computer courses at under graduate and post graduate level. It runs post graduate courses like M.Com; M.B.A.The Mahavidyalaya has achieved its distinctive place in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad and also at the University and Government level. This has been possible due to the efforts and dedication of the management, respective principals and the staff of the college.
 
The Samaj Two decades ago has started the Junior and Degree Colleges exclusively for Girls which is located in Vidyamandir School Premises at present.Shri Gujarati Vidyamandir Girls college offers Intermediate and Degree courses.
The Samaj runs a “Gujarati” library and free reading room for its members which is considered to be biggest in South India.
It also runs a “Modern Guest house” to serve the tourists and businessmen coming from Gujarat and other places, It also runs “Kalyana Mandapam  a centrally air conditioned marriage function hall for the benefit of society members.
The Samaj also runs the Women’s wing- Shri Gujarati Bhagini Samaj.
The Samaj also gives importance to various cultural activities, religious and national festivals and organizes the same on a large scale.
